Best Place to Dupe Visitor's Into Thinking the IE is Posh
Mario’s Place
By: Bill Gerdes
If you’re looking for a place to take first-time visitors to the Inland Empire and make them think it’s the finest region ever scattered over desert, take them to Mario’s Place, just across the street from the colossus of Riverside, the Mission Inn. As Mario’s dishes up that cool elegance, there’ll be a moment when it seems like all of the culture of the universe can be found right in our backyards. At least in your visitor’s eyes. “Oh, Mario’s is good,” you’ll say, “but we’ve hundreds of choices out here.” You’ll be lying, but you can still do the evil mwah-ha-ha laugh and swirl your cognac. Good thing is you can take them to Viva Madrid next, and they’ll never be the wiser—unless they’re staying three nights or more. (Bill Gerdes)
