Best Place to Have a Private Moment in Public
Tom’s Farms
By: Red Vaughn
Tom’s Farm is a paradox in that it could be considered the strangest place on Earth while not even breaking the top ten oddities in the Inland Empire—not with places like Chronic Cantina in business anyway. At once a farmer’s market, a weekend carnival, a some time craft fair, and a wine and cheese outpost, it appeals to a wide range of people, working as a rallying point for bikers (straight from the cast of Mask), a congregative spot for families with small children (there’s a train, a carousel and other rides) and a third reflective sort, those inward types who sip 32-ounce beer from the paper sack while still in work attire. The pond is for pondering, as maudlin sorts in heels and loosed collars stare at the ducks and touch on unfathomable things. Beer is rampant, actually, all around. But some people aren’t saying much—these are the contemplative fixtures that make Tom’s Farms fascinating. (Red Vaughn)
