MAKE SOME NOISE: MUSIC!

SKA IN THE PARK
If you missed the dynamic show-closing set by The Skeletones at the recent Inland Empire Music Awards (brought to you by yours truly), you don’t have to go jonesin’ for a taste of that tasty, horn-inflected 2 Tone goodness. This year’s inaugural Ska in the Park, featuring local faves Voodoo Glow Skulls and, well, legends Suburban Legends, will convince you the genre is alive and well and kickin’ your butt.
Ska in the Park featuring more than 25 acts at American Legion Post 79, 2979 Dexter Dr., Riverside, Sat., June 27, 11am; www.myspace.com/skainthepark, www.skainthepark.com. Tickets $20, available at Electric Chair, 3404 Arlington Ave., Riverside. All ages.
VANS WARPED TOUR
This year marks the traveling punk circus’ 15th installment of bringing punk rock to the masses. Uniting true-blue mohawks, jumped-on-the-bandwagon faux ’hawks and your garden-variety suburban mall-punks, you will lose serious music cred if you miss out the tour’s annual stop in Pomona.
Vans Warped Tour at Pomona Fairplex, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona, June 26, 11AM-8:30PM; www.warpedtour.com, www.fairplex.com. Admission $33.
RHINO SUMMER MUSIC SERIES
We don’t have to tell you that Rhino Records is one of the IE’s coolest indie record stores—but did ya know, fair reader, that it’s also a hub for great live music? The Rhino Summer Music Series features live performances and special events every Friday night and Sunday afternoon thru the end of this month. You’ve got four shows to catch, so get to it.
Rhino Summer Music Series thru June 28, featuring Virginia Reed, Fri., June 19, 8PM; KSPC “Forward Into the Past” music and comedy, Sun., June 21, 2PM; Rebels To The Grain, Fri. June 26, 8PM; DJ Shortstack, Sun., June 28, 2PM; 235 Yale Ave., Claremont, (909) 626-7774; www.myspace.com/rhinorecordsclaremont, www.rhinorecords.cc.
RAMONA BOWL
Hey, we all know that this historical Hemet venue is home to the nationally renowned Ramona outdoor play. And while this deserves props all by itself, let’s also keep in mind the slew of other musical delights the Bowl has to offer, including the 2-day All That Culture: Music of the Americas, a Battle of the Bands finale (seven bands competing for the crown) and the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and more. This is one smokin‘ Bowl.
Ramona Bowl, 27400 Ramona Bowl Road, Hemet, (800) 645-4465; www.ramonabowl.com.
